Just another job hazard from the "quality" of customers at Red Lobster

A Missouri woman is facing felony charges for attacking a waitress at a restaurant in southwest Illinois after the wrong food order was delivered to her table.
Cell phone videos caught the brutal attack on a female server at Red Lobster in Fairview Heights, Ill. Dec. 30.

Police say the food orders for a table of four women were handed off between waitstaff, resulting in a mix-up, the Associated Press reports. When the wrong meals were delivered, one woman threw a drink in the waitress' face before all four women began punching and pushing the server, who suffered cuts to her nose and forehead and a swollen eye.
"Look at the waitress! She's going to kick that [expletive]! She threw a drink in her face and they came and attacked her," a customer can be heard saying on the video of the incident.
After an appeal to the public to help identify the women involved, police have arrested and charged Ania D. Wilkes, 20, of Ferguson, Mo. with mob action and aggravated battery, both felonies, according to KSDK News. Police say tips helped them identify three of the four suspected assailants, and more charges are expected to be filed soon.

It doesn't get any more ghetto than that.  I've seen fights in restaurants but thankfully not between customers and employees.  This is probably why the Popeye's Chicken I went to the other day had 2 inch thick bulletproof glass.

Three Belleville women are facing felony charges after they were accused of assaulting a server at a Red Lobster restaurant in Fairview Heights last Friday.
The assault happened around 2 p.m. inside the restaurant in the 110 block of Ludwig Drive.
A witness said she saw three female customers get mad because the server was filling up their glasses with water too often.  According to the witness, as the server walked away one of them picked up a water glass and threw it, hitting the victim in the back of the head.  The witness said as the server turned around, the customer hit her in the face with one of the dessert books.
The server was treated by a paramedic, but did not go to the hospital and stayed at work.

Customers and restaurant employees made sure the women stayed put until police arrived. Officers then arrested the three suspects.  They have been identified as Sharrell A. Evans, 21, Britley L. Green, 22, and Geneen L. Green, 44, from Belleville.  All three have been charged with mob action and aggravated battery.  Both charges are felonies.  They are being held on $50,000 bond each.

The incident comes just six months after a cell phone video captured four female customers beating up a server at the same restaurant over what they deemed bad service.
In that incident, the victim ended up with cuts on her nose, a swollen eye and was forced to miss a few days of work.

BTW - getting clocked in the head by one of RL's glasses would hurt like hell.  They're very solid and heavy and if the bottom corner caught you it could really do some damage.

Every restaurant within 100 miles should put a photo of these server terrorists (yes I went there) on their front door.

Four women physically attacked a Red Lobster food server for bringing the wrong order to their table.

What I fail to understand is why the manager of this Red Lobster escorted the four females out of the restaurant rather than immediately calling the police? The females should have been detained until the police arrived which would have led to their immediate arrest. This Manager put the police in the situation of having to appeal to the public for any information on these women and had it not been for the customer who filmed the attack on their cell phone, at least one of the females, Ania Wilkes, would not have been arrested and charged. However, three of the female attackers are still at large.

Does Darden have a hidden policy which states guests who physically attack one of their employees are to be escorted out the door, rather than be detained until the police arrive?

I'm not sure if it's this one or not, but there's a RL in the St louis area that is always short staffed and they pay servers from other Lobster's $13/hr to help them out because the tips are so bad.

I could never work at a ghetto Red Lobster. I would get fired from blowing up on the customers.

If a customer ever threw something at me, I just may get sent to prison for murder.......

The manager was black..you know it..that is why they were allowed to skip out..the manager did not even get a plate # or a picture..can you imagine the reports had the server been black??and the attackers white??
I'm scared of a lot of our customers.
Black on white crime is ok...RL has gone down the tubes with constantly kissing these ghetto customers' butts.

Geneen is just mad because her mother obviously did not know how to spell her name correctly when she was born. I have seen some poor phonetic spellings, but the bastardization of the name "Janine" [or Jeanine] is STUNNING. Besides at 44 her only friends are 20 somethings that like to hang out at the Lobstah.

I am not making light of this I promise. It is just absolutely surreal that people act this way over a mistaken meal. You no longer pray for humanity - you pray that they bring back Marshall law.

If that manager detained the guests, the manager probably would have been fired. Do you expect a manager to physically detain 3 goons while waiting 20 minutes for the police to arrive? How do you think that would have gone down..? If he followed them out to get a picture/tag number, they may have pulled a gun on him. You never know how these ghetto creatures will act. I'm not gonna risk my life over a goon that doesn't know the difference between the "add mire alls feast and the Ultimate fest". Get them the hell out of the building and let the cops sort it out. That server will most likely get paid a nice amount for pain and suffering from their workers comp claim. I wonder why they did not have off duty police security at this location after the first attack? They could just make the servers pay a little more out in tip share to cover the cost!

There should be security cameras at the entrance..I do not agree that servers should pay for security or cameras. Maybe the management knew they were caught on security cameras and let them go..No one should risk their lives- that is true. Since tipping is a huge concern with these types of patrons- maybe RL should consider doing a buffet and bussers only. It makes sense. I take more and more abuse daily from these patrons and will find work elsewhere. In the 9 months I have worked for RL, I have seen 27 people quit. I think the brand has gone down too far-and they have really messed up giving these people free food and doting on them-it just encourages more bad behavior. That is why these customers were not in the least worried- I think Otis our multi million dollar CEO should write something with his picture on it for the RL menus- explaining how to tip to his customers and how much his workers depend on it. If they see a black CEO of their favorite place asking them to do the right thing-for excellent service- it might help. But that will never happen-the buffet is the future for RL-I just bet so...

I have worked for red lobster for a year. I have been harassed by customers, staff, and the managment. Recently at my store, 7 servers and 3 bartenders have quit. The ghetto people come 30 miles to our locations because we kiss their ass cuz they are black/arabic. The tips are lousy from 70% of these tables, I kept a 3 months log of my ethnic and caucasian tables and did the math. Pretty simple. I also worked 10-14 hour days with no break or an eat on the run break. recently an asst manager at my store told a server it was up to the company on how long of break you're allowed. The US Dept of Labor thinks differently. Thursday Aug. 30th a federal class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of servers and bartenders for lost wages and tip sharing.
